AHHGHGH!!! Squirrels ate up my garden

June 12th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Squirrels tear up my herb garden and eat my flowers
Let this be another lesson to me. Only three days into my first tenure as an avid gardener, I’ve been attacked.

I’m not sure who was the culprit, but my roommate says he saw some squirrels digging around in our then-unused planters a few weeks back.

“They could have buried something in the dirt and went after it,” he suggested.

Crud. I lost one plant. Not a big deal, but the squirrels did dig up all the soil in the box and spilled it all over my porch.

I’ve done some searching and came up with a few interesting techniques to deal with this problem, if squirrels are indeed the offenders.

Water your garden the right way

June 11th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Hey greenies,

Watering your garden may be the most important duty to master when tending to your plants. So study up!

Plant your herb garden in style - Try a strawberry jar planter

June 11th, 2007 · No Comments

Greetings greenies,

I opened my garden for the season (which includes two long planters and a couple pots) and decided to try something different for planting my herbs.

A Strawberry Jar Planter!

Since I’m new to planting, I asked a nursery clerk for her best advice on getting started with my very own herb garden. She suggested I pick up a strawberry jar planter as a nice way to display my various herbs. So I picked one up!

I also grabbed rosemary, lemon basil, parsley, red chili peppers,

All the rage this year, according to some nursery clerks, strawberry jar planters are a great way to show off your herb garden and manage the sunlight each herb desires.
